Legislation on Royal House finances

The monarchy’s funding is decided in consultation with Parliament.

Expenditure regulated by law

Spending on the Royal House is governed by the Royal House Finances Act, which specifies the annual allowances for the King, his spouse and the former head of state.

Budget

Details of the projected expenditure are set out in the King’s budget, which makes up chapter I of the national budget. Every year the Prime Minister discusses it with the House of Representatives during the debate on the budget.
