Royal procession
On Prinsjesdag the King delivers the Speech from the Throne during a Joint Session of the two Houses of the States General. This takes place at the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Royal Theatre) in The Hague. The members of the Royal House travel to the venue by carriage from nearby Noordeinde Palace. The carriages are preceded by a procession made up of members of the Royal Household, mounted police, a military band, and representatives of various regiments of the armed forces.
Route of the Royal procession
The route of the procession is as follows: Noordeinde, Heulstraat, Kneuterdijk, Lange Voorhout, Tournooiveld, Korte Voorhout. The procession halts outside the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Royal Theatre) on Korte Voorhout. After the King has given the speech, the procession returns to Noordeinde Palace along the same route. On their arrival, the King and the other members of the Royal House make a brief appearance on the palace balcony.
