Speech from the Throne
On Prinsjesdag the King, as head of state, delivers the Speech from the Throne. The speech sets out the government's plans for the coming year.
The Speech from the Throne is delivered during a Joint Session of the two Houses of the States General (the House of Representatives and the Senate). The Constitution stipulates that the speech must be delivered, but there are no constitutional requirements as to the order, length or subject matter, so these may vary from year to year.
