Resignation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs
Announcement by the King’s Office:
On Tuesday 13 February 2018 the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Halbe Zijlstra, requested His Majesty the King to discharge him from his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs. The King has honourably discharged Mr Zijlstra, upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, thanking him for the many important services rendered to the monarch and the Kingdom.
Until a new minister is appointed, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Sigrid Kaag, will take on the responsibilities of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
