King's Day 2016.

Municipalities apply to the King’s Commissioner in their province for a visit from the royal family on King’s Day. The Commissioner passes the application on to the Royal Household. The King himself decides where he and his family will go, taking care to ensure that visits are evenly spread across all the provinces.

The King also seeks the advice of the chamberlain connected with the chosen province. In December the Royal Household informs the mayors of the selected municipalities that the royal family will celebrate King’s Day in their towns, and a public announcement is then made in December or January.
