These include heads of diplomatic missions and members of international organisations like the International Court of Justice. The role of Mistress of the Robes – like that of lady-in-waiting and chamberlain – is an honorary one, that is to say unsalaried. In the case of certain events, the Mistress of the Robes takes on the duties of a lady-in-waiting.
