Palaces

The King is the head of state of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Noordeinde Palace, Huis ten Bosch Palace and the Royal Palace in Amsterdam are put at the head of state’s disposal for the purpose of fulfilling their duties.

Noordeinde Palace in The Hague is where the King works. Most of the Royal Household staff work there too. This palace, and the Royal Palace in Amsterdam are used for official receptions and events. The King and his family live in Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague. Huis ten Bosch Palace is also used for smaller official receptions and meetings.

Visiting the palaces

Noordeinde Palace and the Royal Stables, which is part of the palace complex, are open to the public each year for a few days over the summer period. The Royal Palace in Amsterdam is open to the public most of the year. Up-to-date information on opening times is available on the Royal Palace website
