On the afternoon of Wednesday 29 April and on Thursday 30 April, Her Majesty Queen Máxima, in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health, will attend the 11th edition of the Llao Llao Forum in Bariloche, Argentina. This closed event focuses on opportunities for economic development for Argentina and the region. In this setting Queen Máxima will speak about the topic of financial health.

On Wednesday 29 April she will conduct a number of bilateral talks with senior representatives of banks, the fintech and agricultural sectors, businesses and tech platforms from Argentina and the rest of the Southern Cone (Cono Sur) of South America. She will speak with them about the part they can play in improving the financial health of households.

On Thursday 30 April she will participate in a fireside chat on financial health, together with the chair of the board of directors of La Anónima, one of Argentina’s largest supermarket chains, who co-founded the Llao Llao Forum. Topics will include the financial resilience of households, which can be boosted through savings and insurance, affordable loans that enable people to invest in a better future and the role employers can play in the financial health of their employees. Examples of the measures employees can take include offering savings programmes and budgeting courses and being alert to early signs of employees experiencing financial difficulties. Queen Máxima will also attend a number of plenary meetings.

Last week, at the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, DC, Queen Máxima participated in a fireside chat hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank on opportunities and challenges in the area of financial health in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Queen Máxima promotes financial health in the Netherlands as the honorary chair of the Netherlands Financial Health Foundation, working with large public and private sector employers. She is also the honorary chair of the Money Wise platform.
