The Royal House has various flags. The best known of these is the royal standard, which is the King’s flag. The other members of the Royal House also have flags, known as personal standards.
The flags of the members of the Royal House, like their coats of arms, are established by Royal Decree. The Dutch flag was also established by Royal Decree, which specifies the three colours of the flag: bright vermilion (red), white and cobalt blue.
Anyone is permitted to fly the flag any day of the year. There are general instructions for flying the Dutch flag at government buildings. Special flag instructions may be issued for special events relating to the Royal House, such as births, marriages and deaths.
