The Royal Stables, established by King Willem I in 1815, provides transport for members of the Royal House, their official guests and the Officers of the Royal Household. It has operated from the current complex at Hogewal, in the grounds of Noordeinde Palace, since 1878.
The Royal Stables is part of the Civil Household of the Royal Household. Headed by the Crown Equerry, whose duties include responsibility for royal processions on such occasions as Prinsjesdag (the State Opening of Parliament), it has two departments: the Transport Division (air and road transport) and the Carriages and Stables Division.
The Royal Stables is part of the Royal Household.
